ALSA Malaysia Online

ALSA National Forum 2014 is an annual event of ALSA where it was the honour of ALSA UKM to organise it this year on behalf of ALSA MALAYSIA.It was held from 28 March 2014 till 30th March 2014 in National University of Malaysia.Delegates from various law schools in Malaysia like UM,UUM,UKM,UNIZA,IIUM,HELP,INTI,MMU and many other come law institutions came under one umbrella of association to discuss, analyse and exchange ideas on various significant legal issues within Malaysia,Asia and in the international region.
The theme of NF 2014 is Criminal Justice and Crime Prevention. The theme stems from the very premise that the social development and economical stability of a country is very dependant on the safety, security and peace.of that country. Such requirement cut both ways – first to the society in terms of a safe environment and secondly, to an accused in terms of natural justice and intrinsic rights to a fair trial. The forum topics circulated around Prevention of Crime Act,Refugees and asylum seekers,The rehabilitative Role of Prison and Crime Prevention with Safer Malaysia but also extended to other areas of criminal justice and crime prevention during the question and answer session. Well known speakers such as Mr James Devanayagam from Suhakam and Mr Christopher Leong from the Bar Council were invited to give talks on respected forum topics which was very informational and inspirational. The table discussion which followed after each session of forum was fruitful as delegates were passionate, rational and aggressive in expressing their analogy and ideas on crime prevention. The table discussion exposed students to exchange their ideas deliberately and effectively in a group of legal student from all over Malaysia and it is a rare opportunity. On the 29th of March 2014,the Gala Dinner with the theme of “Oscar Night” was held in Danau UKM.It was a non-academic session for students to network and mingle around with the delegates from other universities. Its a night for all the delegates to dress their best and ready to rock the night. It was surely a night to be remembered by all. The event is to be considered as a huge success as it managed to reach its objective which is to inculcate, encourage, and strengthen awareness of law students of the issues of criminal justice and crime prevention. In essence, raison d'être of this forum is the betterment of Malaysia in which each and everyone of us, regardless of race or religion, hold hands to promote a safer Malaysia. The first annual ALSA UM Tie-rrific Run organized by ALSA UM is a succeed ! With more than 2,000 participants participate in this program , this program should be an annual program by ALSA UM . Congratulations !

Not only did she come up with a report on her experience in the trip but because the event was so great she decided to make a video out of it, a whole 8 minutes of it, woahh! That's like almost every Justin Timberlake song. But anyway, ALSA Malaysia would like to thank ALSA South Korea for hosting us and also a big thanks to the participants for making us proud. Click here to view the full report, to check out the video, click here. Its finally done, the long awaited ALSA International Conference came and went but it was definitely one to remember. Although the event took place in the middle of the exams season for most universities in Malaysia but fortunately our brothers and sisters from KDU and ATC were free at that period of time and were more than willing to represent ALSA Malaysia this time around. This is exactly the reason why we wanted to expend our ALSA influence in Malaysia, so that we will always have representatives for events such as this. So with this, we from ALSA Malaysia would like to give a big thank you to all the Malaysian participants for the Singapore AC 2014 and also a big shout out to ALSA Singapore for being such great hosts! Better late than never I would say. ALSA might be new in that local chapter but the members are as determined and adventurous as ever. Click here for the full report.
ALSA Malaysia successfully held its National Conference this year and we would like to thank ALSA UiTM for making this event a success. They might be a relatively new board but their passion and determination pretty much made up for any of their mistakes.
Packed with academic talks and insightful discussions, this year's National Conference definitely impressed many. There were many ALSA members and what a way to kick off their ALSA careers with this awesome conference. To view the full report on the event, click here! ALSA Always be One! Having completed the required observership period, ALSA KDU (Kolej Damansara Utama) has submitted their application for the status of Local Chapter of ALSA Malaysia. To put it simply, ALSA KDU is finally able to be part of the awesome family that is ALSA Malaysia. However to succeed in their application, they will need the approval of the five existing Local Chapters, National University of Malaysia, University Malaya, HELP University, University Sultan Zainal Abidin and University Teknologi Mara. Fortunately, all five Local Chapters are in favor of accepting ALSA KDU's application so with this we would like to proudly welcome KDU into the family and with the guidance of their charismatic president Ms. Liew Juan Juan, we shall be expecting great things from them! Once again, congratulations and welcome ALSA KDU! Have a look at what to expect from ALSA KDU by referring to the document attached below.
